Day 40: Do before you die

The Before I Die Network is on a mission to help people to figure out what they want to do with their lives. In the hope that they can manage to do it before they die. With this month’s two-part workshop focusing on how to make Fun-damental Change (see what they did there?) I knew I had to head along to this event and find out what’s what.

I was in for a treat.

With everything from meditation and listening exercises to a talk and demonstration from Roger Hartley from The Bureau of Silly Ideas we really made use of this opportunity to truly explore what motivates us, and envisage a future filled with the things we value.

It was great to meet a room full of seekers – all of whom wanted to find a way to exist in the world that’s consistent with their values but also where they don’t starve. I think the emphasis on fun was a great way to explore these questions. After all, play opens up a world of imagination and possibility, and invites you to explore with a free mind.

By the end of the evening I’d found a clear picture of how things might look – at least for a moment – in five year’s time. This coming Tuesday we’ll be looking at how to get there.
